Here we are again, the start to a new year! One of my favorite things to do is reflect on my life and New Year’s is the best time to do this!
I have to admit I am a sucker for all those articles out there talking about starting the new year off with a bang, getting healthy, making resolutions….I just love it. I get motivated and feel like another year is another opportunity to better our lives.
Every year I write down my goals for the coming year. It’s so exciting to think of the year ahead and the endless opportunities we have before us. I feel like a fresh start is given to us. But before I get into that, I first like to reflect on my goals from the prior year. I think it’s important to see the goals we had, what we have and have not achieved and maybe what goals have changed throughout the year. I like to remind myself of my achievements. It’s such a fulfilling experience to reach a goal, and the more I celebrate my hard work, the more goals I want to achieve! On the flip side, I like to revisit the goals that I have not achieved. Maybe those goals changed and are no longer a priority or maybe they need to be put back on the 2016 goal list!
I don’t have any organization to writing my goals, it’s really just listing out things I have always wanted to do, even if they seem crazy. I write lists for everything btw – I am obsessed! Lists keep me focused and determined. Without them, I can easily become distracted. I find it helpful to focus on a category or the most important goal I want to achieve and develop a “road map” to how I am going to achieve it. Often times my goals are so lofty they don’t always feel achievable (or in other words, they are a tremendous amount of work that I don’t think I could ever accomplish) so it helps to break it down step by step that way I feel less overwhelmed and am more likely to succeed. Lots of small achievements along the way keep me motivated! No matter what, to-do lists, dreams, goals, etc. take a lot of work. Success does not just happen overnight to anyone, it is the result of hard word and determination. Taking things one step at a time, at a pace that works for me, is when I have the best results.
I am so excited to share with you some of my goals for The Sicilian Swede in 2016! I have had so much fun with my blog in the past year, probably more than you can imagine 🙂 And although you may read through my content, look at the pictures, check out Instagram or Pinterest once in a while, you probably don’t realize how much time goes into keeping a blog up and running – I sure had no idea when I first started!! From social media postings, photo sessions, editing photos, blog events, etc. I am constantly keeping myself busy! And although I love every minute of it, I have realized some of my efforts have not been giving me the results I want. I actually started my blog with no goals or purpose – which is not like me – I just wanted to do it for fun. But now after a year of fun, it’s time to set some goals and focus on doing some new things that bring more followers and better content for my readers.
SO with that, it’s time to reassess my goals and write some new ones for the year to come! Here are some of my 2016 goals for The Sicilian Swede. Can’t wait to reach these goals and I hope you are along for the ride! Now, go set some goals for yourself and dream big for 2016, it is going to be a GREAT year!
Ciao ♥ The Sicilian Swede
